Bahamas vs. Jamaica - Breezes Resorts

We're planning June '99 wedding & honeymoon and after a lot of research had pretty much decided on Breezes Runaway Bay (Golf & Beach Resort).

But now we're wondering, what about Breezes resort in Nassau Bahamas? Just as nice? Nicer? We'd love any feedback on the resorts themselves and advice on choosing between the 2 locations.

What sort of couple would be happier at which one? Do the resorts have similar "personalities"

HELP! Thanks.

I have not stayed at either resort, but have visited Jamaica and the Bahamas both, and I greatly prefer the Bahamas. Jamaica (last March) is terribly poverty-stricken, and overrun with drug dealers and crime. It is beautiful from a distance, but sad close up. Nassau, on the other hand, is super-friendly, much safer, and really a fun place to be. Breezes is just down the beach from the Marriott Crystal Palace Resort and Casino, if you like to gamble. It is easy to jump on the bus right outside your resort and go downtown to the Straw Market and the Marina area. Lots of good shopping! From there you can take the ferry over to Paradise Island and see some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There is a great nightlife in Nassau, too. My husband and I go every year. We love Nassau!

Rachel is right, Nassau is better. We didn't stay at Breezes, Nassau, but next door to it and we walked over on the beach. It looks like a nice place. As a kid, I lived in Ocho Rios (my dad was a chef at the former "Carib Ocho Rios) and we stayed at "Dover Farm" just outside of town. Jamaica has some real natural beauty, but the poverty and crime is so bad that you can't hardly venture out of the grounds of your hotel. Many people like Jamaica, but I lived there and it's not on my "return to" list. Nassau, on the other hand has it's problems, but I certainly prefer it anytime. Have fun and congrats!

I, too, agree with the others. The Bahamas is a much more relaxed and fun place to be. Jamaica (which is where we chose to get married & honeymoon) was intimidating. We are not the type to be chained to our hotel...but in Jamaica, that was our safest choice! In comparison, I didn't feel worried in the Bahamas, even walking downtown at night! Hope this little bit helps! Have fun!
I was at Breezes Bahamas, last November. It was a nice resort, not really 'Fancy'. I say this because our bus picked up guest from the Sandal resort--and that was FANCY. If you plan on staying in the resort, I would go to Jamaica. That Breezes offers golf (if your interested) and my be a little larger. The disco at the Breezes resort is kinda small.
I am traveling to Sandals in Jamaica in Oct. for a lazy R&R. I would go back to the Bahamas, but I got a better deal for travel to Jamaica.
