Bahamas-need hotel recommendation
I am trying to plan a post surgery get away in March for my husband and I. I thought the Bahamas would be a good location because it is a quick flight from NJ. However, we had a bad experience at the Atlantis & need some recommendations. Can't afford the One & Only Club but would love good service & accomodations. Any advice is appreciated!

If you are planning a relaxing stay in the Bahamas then I would recommend Old Bahama Bay! The Resort is gorgeous and provides for all of your needs. There are restaurants on site with spa and beautiful beaches. I have stayed there several times and have always had a wonderful experience.

At $425 a night, Runaway Hill is not really a budget choice. Since Messier bought it in ?2006 it's been redone and prices have gone up. But, a very nice play to stay and I like it better than Pink Sands.

okay we are ready to book this hotel. Just a quick question or 2. Is there anywhere to go within walking distance-local restaurants? Will it be about $150 round trip if we want to go into Freeport for the day?

The town is about 2 miles away so it is easy to bike ride there and if not there is always someone at the resort willing to drive into West End. There are a handful of local restaurants to try – keep in mind they are not aimed at tourists, but the fresh fish and conch salad are great!
Taxis are indeed $70 each way for up to 4 people. There are local buses for $5, but the schedules are on island time…..
