Babymoon Beach Vacation

My wife and I are looking to take a Caribbean vacation in late September / early October before our first baby arrives. My wife will be seven months pregnant. We want to do some site seeing but are looking for beautiful beaches and some pool time. We are considering an all inclusive trip but haven't decided for sure yet. It'll be a couples trip and we are in our late 20s/early 30s. We have been doing quite a bit of research and hoping to avoid islands with high chance of high rain and hurricanes. Any suggestions on the best islands to visit in fall based on what we are hoping to find?

It would help if you told us how far you are willing to travel, and where you're coming from. Also, do you have a budget?

Of course! I tried to give some detail but should have included this as well.
We are traveling from Salt Lake City, Utah and we want to stay anywhere within the Caribbean islands. We only have about 7-8 days, including travel time, so just don't want to spend half our time traveling. Not super helpful, I know, but we are still pretty open.
As for budget, we are hoping to keep the total cost under $4k. Hopefully that's not too unreasonable.
Hope this helps! We appreciate any help and look forward to some expert opinions. The Caribbean is totally new for both of us!

My first thought is that you're probably best focusing on where you can get to from SLC easily. You're going to have a connection somewhere, and the last thing you want to do is sit in Miami overnight waiting for an early flight to your destination.
What are your thoughts on Mexico as an alternative?

All islands have a chance of hurricanes! Although this year the prediction is low, and so far quiet

As for AIs, me personally, at 7 months pregnant I wouldn't be risking buffets with germs, food sitting out all day, possible norovirus type outbreaks.

Chances are it might not happen but for me that would bother me more than hurricanes. Why not go somewhere a little bit safer just in case?

AIs can attract stomach bugs, especially Mexico and and Dominican Republic

AIs are good deals when you drink anyway

So how about a non ai?

I may be stating the obvious but has the doctor cleared your wife for travel in her third trimester? If so make sure you know if your health insurance covers you in case something comes up. This story was in the news recently:

txgirlinbda : Yes, it is true. A convenient flight would be nice. We just assume a connection when going out of country as this is so often the case. We have considered Mexico, just not as interested as some other locations.

blamona : We do realize all islands have a chance for hurricanes. In doing research it seems some islands are much more likely during this time of year given their precipitation levels and historical weather. Hoped some people who have been during this time of year could speak to this a bit. Valid points and concerns regarding AIs during a pregnancy. We do not drink, so this is not a perk for us specifically. As mentioned above, we are not focused solely on AIs, very open to non AI.

SeeHag : Yes, her doc has cleared her well within this time frame. She has had a very healthy pregnancy but we are still planning everything very cautiously. Thanks for the story and reference.

Connections are inevitable, yes, but some may be more feasible than others. What I was suggesting was looking at flights that would enable you to get to your destination without an overnight stop. So, which airlines can get you to Miami (or other connecting city) early enough to catch the island flight? Then focus on where those airlines fly to.

I would consider Bermuda or the Bahamas. In fact, with my second pregnancy we did a babymoon in Bermuda. I was 4 months. Both these locations are very close to the US in case there is are any health issues and the flights won't be too long. Good luck and enjoy!
