Atlantis - Can I pack food and drink in a checked suitcase?

Family going to Atlantis. Wanted to pack food and drink to save money. Does anyone know if we will have any issues with customs? Plan on taking prepackaged snacks, PB&J, bread, juice boxes, box o wine, applesauce, nuts, cereal. What about fresh fruit and fresh vegetables?

Leave the fresh fruits & vegetables at home as you cannot bring those items to the Bahamas unless you obtain an Import Permit from the Agricultural Ministry prior to your arrival.

You shouldn't have any trouble with the other items, however, you are limited to bringing in 1 qt. of wine so you just might want to forego that item. Technically the Customs Office can charge you duty on the other food items if the value exceeds $100 - they fee is sometimes waived if the food is for your own consumption but it is up to the customs officer who is on duty at the time of your arrival. Telling them that someone on a travel forum told you the fee can be waive will carry no weight whatsoever so be prepared to pay the duty if it's assessed and count your blessings if it's not. Sorry, can't tell you how much the duty , if any, will be as that varies by item and value.

Sorry, can't help you on the nuts. Suggest you take some with you and just don't get upset if they are confiscated. If it that would bother you just too much just leave them home.
