Aruba Marriott or Hyatt?

We have been going to the Marriott for the past 10 years. This year we stayed at the Ocean Club - at the Marriott the unit has a kitchen, living room, 1 or 2 bedrooms, and bath, it was great. Enjoy your trip!

Sorry to answer a question you haven't asked, but you might consider the Radisson. We just got back from there last week and it was fabulous. We made it a point to visit the Hyatt and the Marriott (and some others) to compare and the Radisson won hands down. Their grounds are much larger and more beautiful, with extensive palm trees, tropical flowers, birds, streams, and waterfalls galore. (The hyatt grounds are more compact and its pools are kind of small and rectangular.) The Radisson pools are much nicer and more state-of-the-art, zero entry, and one is heated. But if you MUST choose between the Hyatt and the Marriott, I'd go with the Hyatt. In any case, have fun.

My husband just returned from our first trip to Aruba. We stayed at the Marriott Ocean Club (the condos). I posted a trip report to Fodor's recently that you may want to search for and read. Also, feel free to ask me any questions about our vacation. As far as the Marriott versus the Hyatt, it just depends on your priorities. If a condominium is a must for you (we wanted this so that we could eat breakfast and lunch in the room and to have more space), then go with the Marriott Ocean Club. If you have to have a balcony, then go with the Marriott Resort or the Marriott Ocean Club because, from what I understand, the Hyatt doesn't really have a balcony that you can sit on. If the beauty of the grounds are a priority for you, then go with the Hyatt. We drove down to the Hyatt one night to walk around, and we were blown away by its grounds. The Marriott can't begin to compare in that respect. The Radisson also had beautiful grounds that were much better than the Marriott's.

I agree with Nickie...while we visited the Hyatt we actaully stayed at the Radisson...it was great...the grounds were beautiful, the beach perfect and the rooms nicley decorated (not your standard hotel room decor!). The hotel recently underwent over 55 million in renovations and it shows.
I would definitely consider this hotel if you have the option.

Nickie and Kristie,I have to respectfully disagree with you, I think Hyatt wins as the
... However I couldnt put down the raddisson as I know there are people out there who feel just as strongly about it as I do the Hyatt.
Either resort, you cannot go wrong... I believe they both "beat" the Marriott!

Another vote for Radisson (even though you did not ask about it!) or Hyatt ( but not if you want a balcony). Not Marriott Hotel. Marriott Ocean Club timeshares are very nice if that is an option for you.

Hi, I agree with some of the others, the Raddison is far superiour to the Marriott and the Hyatt. The Marriott had a rocky/shelly beach and the Hyatt was toooooo over crowded. The pool was full of kids and noisy teens. The Raddison is PERFECT in every way. Good luch what ever you decide.

To Nickie and others regarding Radisson - can you tell us what category room you stayed in???
I realize there is Gardenview, then partial oceanview and then deluxe oceanview. I also hear the Aruba Tower is the best. If I spend the extra money (and it is a LOT) on a deluxe oceanview - do you know if it will be in the Aruba tower??? Or do those rooms exist in other towers too?
So hard to decide if it is worth it.

Some questions back to you: what time of year are you going, and who are you booking through?
I booked through American Airlines Vacations, and got a better rate than booking through Radisson directly or through some of the big internet wholesalers. You can check their rates on the internet. The had a booking category designated Aruba Tower only, Deluxe Ocean/pool view. When I checked in, the hotel tried to put me in another tower with a comparable view, claiming that they couldn't gurantee a particular tower, but when I explained my booking and insisted, they moved us the next day. They also gave us a food credit because of the inconvenience without being asked, which we thought was great. So you need to clarify what tower you will be getting with your booking source.
The Aruba tower room was larger and a little nicer, for instance three longstemmed roses were in a vase in the bathroom, which was also larger. The Bonaire tower room view, which also was considered a "deluxe" view, was not as panoramic as the Aruba view. We were on the 5th floor in the Aruba tower, and the view was great.Hope this helps.

I called American for a price -but their price did not include a guaranteed tower and it was not as good as the rate the others could get me AND the flight was not direct - which it is with the other operators.
I can get a Partial oceanview with breakfast and $100 food and bev credit for $1443pp or a ocean/pool view with same items for $1621. Pretty high rates no? I am working on getting those rates without breakfast to see if it is a better deal.
What I do not like about the Radisson is it seems everyone goes through such a hassle with this tower or that, view no view and even king size bed or 2 doubles. I will not be happy if they stick us in a room with two doubles.
I do not hear this being the case as often at Wyndham. There I can get a deluxe oceanview with the same items above for $1165pp.

I do not recommend the Wyndham unless you don't mind a lot of kids. In addition to it being more of a "family" hotel, it is also adjacent to the public beach and when we walked by, apprently swimming lesson were being offered to the local kids. And there were a lot of them.

The difference in the view prices you quoted me come out to $22.25/day, so I guess you can think about whether a better view is worth that to you.If not, get the partial.
But it sounds like the real issue is whether you want to save more $$ by staying at the Wyndham. It's just my opinion, but there's really no comparison between the 2 hotels, the Rad is just plain nicer.
Re: the breakfast, it came w/our booking too. The breakfast buffet at the hotel was $15.00 pp, so we paid $4 pp less for breakfast than we otherwise would have. Hope this helps.

Well the real issue is - I don't want to be hassled for getting a room I paid for with a king size bed - just don't want to deal with others have, at the Radisson. I will spend the extra money - but if I run into what others have there -it would sort of annoy me!
