Arriving In Bermuda

I am trying to get a rough idea of how long it generally takes to collect luggage, go through Customs, get a Taxi from the airport? We are staying at the Royal Palms Hotel. Our flight does not get in until close to 8:30 pn Wednesday evening, and I would like to have an idea of the time frame?
Have never been to Bermuda before, and am being careful to "follow the rules" regarding what you can/can't bring into the country duty free, etc. Still, I would appreciate any advice or tips for airport arrivals etc, I would like to email the hotel and give them a rough idea of when to expect us. Thanks!

I've only been through customs there once but I can say it does take a while since the customs area is quite small and there are not a lot of officer stations. We were the last to deplane and we had to wait for all the other de-planed passengers in line ahead of us to clear customs first . It was a good hour before we got through. I'd say plan on an hour and a half for a full flight arrival. Hope this helps

A lot depends on how many planes arrive around the same time as yours, whether or not you have checked luggage or only carry-on and/or how quickly you deplane. On our last trip to Bermuda we did only carry-on and were through immigration and customs in about 15 minutes. Figure on an average of around 30 to 45 minutes and you'll either be plesantly surprised if you do it quicker or not too disappointed if it takes you an hour.

I would expect you to be out of the airport and at the RP by 10pm at the latest - it's about a 30-35 minute taxi ride. That being said, the flight schedules here are so routine, all you really need to do is let the staff know that you are on the flight from wherever arriving at 8:30pm - they'll take it from there.
Don't get too stressed over what you're bringing in as far as customs goes. If you're on vacation and you don't have anything you'll likely to try and sell here or leave as a gift, they shouldn't hassle you.
Have you thought about getting dinner that late in the evening? You might want to check with RP for suggestions - by the time you get to Hamilton, most places are going to be closing.

Thanks to all for the advice. I have emailed the hotel to let them know our expected arrival time at the airport. We figure we wont get to our hotel till around 10PM or so, so just are not going to worry about dinner. A big late afternoon lunch before the flight to Bermuda will be fine for the two of us.
Am looking forward to visiting Bermuda for the first time. I appreciate all the helpful answers to questions I have posted regarding this trip, and will write a report when I get back.
