don't know Bill Tewes but would happily recommend Laurie and his crew at Bequia Dive Adventure. Bequia is a small island about 45-60 mins from St. Vincent by ferry. Great dive sites. Check out www.bequiatourism.com
Hi, Just returned from Young Island Resort. We didn't dive with Bill but did take one of his snorkle excursions down the leeward side of St. Vincent to the Falls of Balliene. My husband and I hired the double outboard boat (Quick) for $ 75.00 US per person (normally $50.00 US per person as long as there are 4 people going)for the day. Larry was our guide. Plenty of too strong rum punch, soft drinks, and water. A stop at a local beachside restaurant on the way back (a great meal considering the looks of the place and watch out for the agressive guys selling their beads)! As for diving we talked to a few couples that had taken His dive trips and were very happy.(he's quite the character...don't let him persuade you one way or the other) They offer more private trips not loaded with people. They mentioned that the diving on the leeward side toward the falls was better then closer to Young Island. Although Bill swears it's just as good just different. On the leeward side is a spot called Coral Castle it was outstanding and we were just snorkling! Many folks mentioned they also saw SeaHorses 5-6" big. I guess it's a rare sight. Everyone was pretty excited over it. I might say that the snorkling alone around Young Island toward the Fort Island was exceptional also. Safe Dive Rose
Hi Rose. Thanks for the info! We are staying on Young Island, as you probably figured, and we were thinking of doing that Falls of Balliene trip also. Do you think it was worth the time?
Thanks for the tip about snorkeling around Fort Island.
Alee
Hi Alee,
Yes I'd take the time for the trip to the falls. The view of SV alone is so beautiful. If you dive along the way it'll be more fun for you. (don't forget to check out coral castle). It is a full day but I believe some other tours available thru the front desk bulletin board and a large tourist catalog complimentory at the desk also offer a 1/2 day trip to the falls. (If your short on time that is) Have a wonderful time on Young Island...I can hear the palms and treefrogs already just thinking about it. Mmmm and the fragrant flower scented night air by the pool! Enjoy and safe travels

Good review of Young Island and diving with Bill's operation at www.scubatreks.com - take the Young Island link.
Thanks for the heads up on the review. The resort looks great, and the diving looks nice too.
Although I've not personally dived with him, I have spoken with more than a few reliable people who have and he comes highly recommended. One of the best.
