So how was the hotel???
I am planning to go there maybe this summer.
Taline, I have stayed twice at the Melia Cohiba in Havana and it is wonderful. It is clean, great pool, wonderful staff--it is everything you could want. I am told that the Melias are Spanish owned--49%--and the Cuban government is the 51%. They are well-run. The Melia Cohiba is 5 star as well.
I have never stayed at this hotel, but I hve seen it and it is huge.
We stayed at Cayo Guillermo which is nearby. It was only 4* but it was very nice.
I think the main difference between 4*& 5* hotels in Cuba is the food.
We have also stayed at Melia Sol Rio de Oro which was 5* and it was awesome. It was our definite favourite Cuban hotel so far. We have stayed in quite a few from 3* and up and this one was the best. The quality and selection of food was incredible.

We are planning on a trip to The Melia
Cayo Coco in Cuba this coming March and
would like to know how Taline liked it
as according to their E-mail they were booked to go in March 2000.
We have been to the Melia Rio De Oro in
Holguin and it was one of the best trips that we have taken. The Hotel was just wonderful, the food to die for,
the staff informative and ever so friendly and the general Cuban public so very nice.
If the Melia Cayo Coco is as nice we will have nothing to worry about.
Please anyone who has been there please respond and let us know.
