Any St. John villas on the ocean?

It seems that most of the villas and resorts in St. John I've seen advertised are on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Are there any places on a great beach that are semi-reasonably priced?

You could always email or phone the villa rental companies--Catered To, Destination St. John etc. Phone numbers are listed online.

We went one year ago and I think I can recall some oceanfront properties.

Try http://island-getaways.net/ Kathy has some on a beach!<BR>Also do a search for Gibney Villas, they are listed with quite a few companies. They have 2 units right on the beach!<BR>Ronnie

Sound like pretty slim pickins for those who simply won't settle for less than staying ON the beach. What a shame that St. John has such wonderful beaches but you have to drive to them!

Edna,<BR>Sorry, but St John's beaches are by and large protected by being within the National Park. That's why they stay beautiful. Because no one can build rows and rows of houses, hotels and resorts. Get it?

St John is the only island we will go to BECAUSE the beaches are protected from development. So please - keep going to your all inclusives right on the beach on other islands and leave St John for us who don't want to see all the disgusting development. Everyone is different. Remember?

Such a shame Edna. Guess you can't please all the people all the time. If you do a search on St. John, you will see the most important part that most people enjoy is the fact that it is a National Park and protected. Maybe you should go to Cancun.<BR>Ronnie

I love having to fire up the 4X4 and jeepabout to the beaches on St. John, hoping to beat the crowds so I can find a parking place so I can explore the reefs damaged by scores of tourists. What a lovely national park, paying a fee to enter Trunk Bay and see their laughable underwater trail, and Westin's manmade beach! It just doesn't get any better!

Alan,<BR>You are a sad little man regardless of what your real name is. Do you have anything better to do than lurk about waiting for Ronnie to post something so that you can respond and bash either him or St John or both?<BR>If you don't like St John, don't travel there. We won't miss you. <BR>There are those of us who appreciate Ronnies' breadth of knowledge and his willingness to help. <BR>You seem to have a problem with the fact that he owns property on St Thomas. Personally I believe you've been bitten by the green eyed monster.

barb, the answer to your question is no. To get what you are looking for, try Provo, Anguilla, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Barbados, Tobago or the BVIs.

Ohnonotyou, I'm sure you not only enjoy Ronnie's breadth, but also his girth.

Hey, people, this board is all about opinions.<BR>No one's right or wrong, these are simply opinions.<BR>If some people like their beaches difficult to access and without nearby conveniences, I can understand that.<BR>I prefer to have a nice room on the beach, right out my window, but thank goodness there are alternatives to please everyone.<BR>Ronnie and Alan are neither right or wrong in their tastes.<BR>There are people who love to vacation in places like Gatlinburg TN, Orlando and Dollywood. And those who love the Australian outback and Alaskan wilderness.<BR>Neither is better than the other.

John. You are innocently getting into defending someone like Alan or whatever his/her name is this week. They sit and wait for people to post on anything about the USVI and then make some negative remark. Me in particulaer, they take exception to the fact that I am a property and business owner in St. Thomas. Now he is using the name of my business as his email address.<BR>Thank you for defending my answer, but theirs is not sincere at all, maybe they will crawl back into their hole where they belong. If you read my posts above you will notice there is no reference to my places or St. Thomas. <BR>I just try to help where I can, that's all. Hopefully I have helped someone in my answers. Sorry for Alan or whatever, as they seem to spend a lot of time trying to denigrate me! To paraphrase a line from a recent movie "they need to go home and rethink their life"<BR>Ronnie
