My fiance and I are planning a trip to Anguilla in February. Our travel agent is recommending the Great House, but we've only seen a few pictures and are afraid to commit without more information. Has anyone been there? Any opinions on this resort?

We stayed at the Great House for about 5 years until it became part of Pineapple Beach. The biggest reason we quit going was that it became all inclusive as a Pineapple Beach resort, and part of the fun of Anguilla is going out to different Resturants. (Don't even consider Anguilla without renting a car!!) It is now Anguilla Great House again, and a friend of mine stayed there a couple of weeks ago for 11 days and had no complaints. We are leaving for Anguilla on Friday for the holidays, and will check it out again. If you E-Mail me on or after Jan 6th, I'll let you know what it looked like. It is on a wonderful beach.
A fellow by the name of Bob Green does a wonderful newsletter on Anguilla. If you set your search to "Green AND Anguilla" it will probably show up for you. (I just looked at my bookmarks and it is http://news.ai/)

We stayed there last April and loved it. We went all inclusive, but I'm pretty sure if you contact Wil Fleming, the owner, you can arrange for just a room. It was lovely there. It was clean, the staff was friendly, there weren't very many people there and it was on one of the most gorgeous beaches we've seen. Any other ???, email me.
I stayed @ AGH for a week in Feb 1998. It's NOT a luxo-box, but it's clean and very friendly. Great access to a great beach. You have to ask for things like watersports equipment and remind them several times when you order a rental car. Also pickup at Blowing Point is a little haphazard because identifying your ride is a bit of a gamble.
Would we go there again? Yes.
