I've been to Holguin previously and stayed at Sol Rio De Mares. I'd like to try a different hotel in that area - any info on the Hotel Atlantico? Would appreciate knowing how the food is there and what the rooms are like - how is the service? Thanks!

Hi Tasch - I think you might be a bit disappointed in the Atlantico, especially after staying at the de Mares. Two years ago we stayed at the de Oro (which was at the end of the beach) and went on an afternoon tour through the Guardalavaca area. We saw the Atlantico and well, it is getting a bit long in the tooth from what we could see. The a/c are those old window ones, the pool is very small and although the beach was very nice in that area there was nothing in the way of beach loungers. I think you have to consider what you're paying (which is not a lot) and therefore, how little you'll get for that. Go back to the de Mares or book into the de Oro.
