Antigua vs St Thomas?

I will be traveling with my daughter and her boyfriend (20&22) in late May, and can't quite decide between Antigua or St Thomas. Antigua seems to have better accomodation choices, any ideas?

Those are two very different islands.

If you tell us more about what you are seeking in a Caribbean vacation, what type of activities you enjoy, the type of accomodations you favor, your budget (be specific as term like "reasonable", "affordable" are meaningless without an actual dollar point of reference), etc. it will make it easier to steer you in the right directions. You did mention "Antigua seems to have better accomodation choices" - if you lets us know what made you come to that conclusion we'd have a better understanding of your needs and requirements.

Antigua has many AI resorts, which St. Thomas does not have. It also has some extravagantly expensive resorts, and St. Thomas does have those. But as RoamsAround is saying, without some point of reference regarding what you are looking for and why you think Antigua has better accommodations choices, anything said here will be meaningless, including the ever-present and expected urge that you go instead to St. John, Provo, or Anguilla, which I expect to see any moment now.

Thank you for the respones.
We are looking for a combination of Beach, water sports (snorkeling)and some sight seeing.

I utilize Home Away for many of my vacations, and they seem to have more reasonably priced options in Antigua compared to St Thomas. We have never been to either island, but have been to Aruba, Jamaica, Cancun, and The Bahamas.

This is starting to make sense now. One of the reasons why villas are so cheap on Antigua is that they can be isolated and far from everything. But now that I know you're looking for a villa that makes the decision a little easier.

I'd suggest Grand Cayman and would suggest you look on the North Shore to get away from the biggest crush of tourists. Provo also has some really nice villa and condo accommodations. Both have good snorkeling, but Grand Cayman has a little more going on land.

If you want a lush, forested island like Antigua, I must admit that for a lush island it has beautiful beaches, but there is a bit of a crime problem there. So if you like for a villa, consider looking in one of the villa resort or gated communities (and there are many of these). Antgua does offer all the things you're looking for, so don't be discouraged even though it's not my favorite island. I would, for example, prefer St. Croix over both St. Thomas and Antigua, even though the beaches on St. Croix aren't quite as beautiful as those on St. Thomas. But it does have good snorkeling, a good bit of history, and some great beaches if you don't mind going out in the car to find them.
