My husband and I are going away for 5 nights in July and were planning on going to St. Martin. We just saw some offers to stay at the St. James on Antigua and we are now reconsidering this resort and island. I heard really positive things about this resort over the years and always thought it was too expensive. The all inclusive is a little concerning as we don't usually like that -- the food isn't typically very good and we like to try other restaurants. We are looking for beach, relaxation and spa. Has anyone stayed here/any thoughts on this resort? We weren't considering Antigua but the offer has us thinking about it. Thanks.

We are also looking at this resort for X-mas break (with 2 older teen sons). Usually we go to Mexico and with 2 boys we have always looked to all inclusives as a way to curtail overall costs. Through the years we have stayed at places with good food and places with EXCELLENT food (Grand Velas Riviera Maya and Villa La Estancia). We have not been t Antigua and I have been reading tons of reviews on Trip Advisor. Of course one person will talk about how good the food is, one will rate it as passable and others will call it slop. Our last couple of vacations have had great food so I am hoping too that SJC meets these standards. But I recognize that food is subjective. I have found the Trip Advisor reviews helpful overall because you can sort them by family, couples or business reviews.
