All inclusive questions? Best? Worst?
My sister and I (and 15 year old neice) want to go to Jamaica early Nov. 2006. Which all inclusive places can you recommend?? We are looking at Starfish Twelny (sp?). We are green travelors also. Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated. Also which would have best price for a last minute trip such as ours. Thank you so much, Pam.

green as in inexperienced, or green as in eco-conscious? If the latter, you might want to skip the large resort option altogether!
I don't know how devoted to the bottom line you need to be for this trip, as you didn't indicate a budget. But if your underage niece is required to pay the full adult price (much of which is alotted for alcohol) for the AI, I would suggest going elsewhere, probably to Negril. There you can eat and stay relatively inexpensively without the dreariness of eating at the same restaurants for every meal.
Check out www.negril.com for lots of info about various hotels. Places like Expedia also have cheap packages to Negril. Even if you do choose an AI package, I'd still skip Trelawney. Negril will give you a much better beach for starters.

And make sure you get notarized letter from father of neice that she can go out of country with only one parent - I have heard for Jamaica they actually check the much-recommended letter at times.

Thank you ALL for you responses. I am going to check them out. Also, thank you for the reminder for the letter from my neice's Father. My sister and I are green (meaning we never travel) so any/all suggestions are very much appreciated. Pam

No one has really commented on Starfish itself. It's a decent place and a real bargain, but if you've never been to Jamaica before, I'd recommend you try someplace else. It's fairly isolated, so it would be more expensive to do island tours, though it's within striking distance of Dunn's River Falls, a popular day-trip destination in Ocho Rios. I'd recommend you take a look at the Riu resorts on Jamaica. This is not my favorite chain because the resorts are all very large and kind of impersonal, but the two in Negril have a stellar location on the beach, very moderate prices, and lots of facilities. Plus, you could take a trip to YS Falls, which is similar to Dunn's River Falls, but not quite as touristy.
