What's the best way to travel to Anguilla from preferably Newark, NJ or 2nd choice JFK. The flights I have found take 2 days for travel or 2 to 3 stops. I've checked AA, Continental, Travelocity. Is it better to fly to St. Martin and take the ferry or prop plane to Anguilla? How do I find info on the ferry and prop planes if this is the case? Thanks for any info!

Easiest route I know is from Newark or JFK direct to SXM (sometimes w/ a short stop in San Juan). If you take the first flight out (about 7 a.m.), then you can get to Anguilla in one day either by connecting in SXM with Winward Island Airways, or taking a cab to Marigot and taking a ferry from there.

The post above has the itinerary you probably want but there is an early morning nonstop flight from JFK to SXM. Once there, you take a 15-20 minute cab ride ($14 for 2) to Marigot on the French side of the island. The ferry to Anguilla goes every 1/2 hour until 7:00 pm. It costs $10/person plus $2 departure tax. It's about a 20 minute ride to Anguilla. On the beach by 3 or 3:30!!

2 direct non-stop to SXM daily. Early one arrives around 1 PM. Fare $640. Immigration/customs can be a mess in SXM and then taxi to the ferry. Worst case senerio is you arrive at the same time; best 30 minutes to an hour earlier. Good return time at 5:40 pm but you still have to leave AXA to get to the airport in SXM at least 2 hours ahead.

there is one from philly that goes to st. maarten around 9am w/us air. u can either take the ferry which heads out 3 times a day to anguilla i believe or by prop plane. your choice. still the flight is expensive but fairly cheap to stay once there.

Mary's post is exactly correct. The Anguilla ferry leaves from Marigot, French side St Martin, every half hour, and not "three times a day."
