AI in DR for 2 single girls, Feb or Mar

Hi All - my friend and I are looking to take a long weekend down in the Carribean somewhere. We were thinking of doing an AI somewhere in the Dominican Republic. We are in our late 20s/early 30s and are looking to relax on a beautiful property, but also be around other young single people. We would prefer somewhere with good nightlife and a minimal amount of families/children.

Any good hotels? Which part of the island should we be looking at? Where do all the single ppl go on vacation?!? Thanks!!

I'd visit TripAdvisor.com to get a better view of who visits these resorts. We're looking for a similar type place and that site lets posters select the group(families, couples, singles, etc) best suited to the resorts. Breezes is the one we're leaning toward right now.

isn't Breezes called something else now? Maybe Barcelo Bavaro Palace? We've narrowed it down to Barcelo Palace or Ocean Blue. I spent ALL day yesterday reading reviews on Tripadvisor and it seems like these two hotels both have good nightlife and good pool scenes. Personally, I'd rather stay at Ocean Blue b/c it's newer and probably less run down. But, Barcelo Palace is on a large piece of property with 4 other hotels. We should have our minds made up by tomorrow...If anyone has stayed at either of these resorts, can you tell me about them?

I haven't heard great things about Barcelo's nightlife. I thought it had more families and couples there. As far as I know, Breezes PC hasn't changed names.

Your premise:

We would prefer somewhere with good nightlife and a minimal amount of families/children......Where do all the single ppl go on vacation?

Puerto Rico.
Old San Juan.

Scope out:
www.caletarealty.com... great night life place.....latin lovers and 400 year old history.

Muy Beuno!

I couldn't agree more - Puerto Rico is LOTS of fun. Thing is, I have been there 3 times in the past 2 years (I was dating someone who lived there). So I'm looking for something new.

My girlfriends and I have decided to book Barcelo Bavaro Palace. A male friend who is 27 yrs old went and said he had a great time, lots of singles and good atmosphere. We're going Feb 8-12...if anyone else will be there at that time, let me know!

BTW, our travel agent is in her mid 30s, single, and has visited Breezes and said she did not like it and would not send us there.

Thanks for the tip about Breezes; I'm going to look at Barcelo again for our April trip!

I will def post a review about my hotel once I return. Someone from another forum said that Bavaro Beach has more singles, but being that we're staying at the Palace, we can use all 4 of the other Bavaro facilities at no extra charge...so if our pool is dead, we'll hop on the tram and check out another one!

I'll also post something about the discos/nightlife.
