A trip as wonderful as Anguilla

I am planning a trip for May 09 with my boyfriend. Last year we went to Anguilla and LOVED the island. Amazing beaches, fabulous restaurants and areas to poke around. We also spent time in St. Maarten but didn't like how built up it was and spent most of our time on the French side.
Any suggestions for other islands that compare to Anguilla as far as beaches and restaurants? Also we like to poke around/rent a car but don't need organized activities. We are not looking for all-inclusive hotels or islands that you can't safely explore.
I've heard St. John is beautiful but recently read a lot of forums about crime issues...
Thanks!

Although probably not as good as Anguilla, I think Provo in Turks and Caicos is coming up to be a close second. It also has amazing beaches, and great restaurants. it's very user friendly and relatively safe.

I should also mention that St Bart's is also very fab but busier and less secluded.

Loved Anguilla, but it's Turks & Caicos for us again this year.

Very similar, but T&C is easier to get to and you don't need a car.

Harbor Island in the Bahamas - pink sand, only mode of transportation is golf carts - very charming small island with gorgeous beach - just a bit tricky to get to - we took a small plane out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL to N. Eleuthera Island, then a very short ferry from there - including taxi rides in between, but it's nothing I wouldn't do again!

PS, I've been to both Anguilla & Turks & Caicos as well to compare to Harbor Island. I think they are all on pretty equal par as places I would return to in a heartbeat that had beaches so white and water so turquoise you thought you were dreaming. Anguilla (E. Shoal Bay Beach in particular) is still my fav., but the other two are very comparable.
