A few questions about Sonesta Great Bay
Hello; My son and his fiancé are considering this resort for their honeymoon in may and have a few questions which I was hoping the folks here might be able to answer.
1. Please tell me about the beach. They like long walks on the beach and would like a nice stretch to walk.
2. As this will be in May they want to know about how many children will be at this resort then. They would prefer fewer and I am thinking this time of year for the US and Europe I suppose has school still in session.
3. How far is it from the airport and how long does it take to get to a ferry should like like to island hop.
4. Is this resort situated in or close to town as they like to be able to walk into town form the resort.
Thanks!! Larry

I found out from a tour guide there that the beach is not that long so as they wanted a place to enjoy long walks on the beach they decided against this resort.
BTW they did end up at an excellence resort in the Riviera Maya which ticked ll the boxes and they raved about it. Saw the pics too and lit looked amazing.

If you look at trip advisor, they have a function 'map' where you see the location of the hotel. It is less than half a mile from Philipsburg.
I have a question however : I don't like people who don't like children : how can I know there aren't too many of them in a resort ?

WE have been to the Divi Resort and it was very nice. They have there own beach, and the views are beautiful. They offer shuttle into town not sure which town you are referring to but the place where you get a ferry. Phillipsburg is a stones throw away but not suitable for walking. (hilly and a lot of traffic.)

Sonesta in Maho might be better. The Great Bay one is a bit out of the way except for Philipsburg & that can get so so so busy with the cruise ships & from Maho, you would have Maho beach, Mullet bay, Cupecoy bay all very close; lots of restaurants & bars in Maho & Simpson Bay close by. Also airport just a few mins away. A better spot to get about definitely.

Thank you. The HM was in May and they decided to go to an AI in Riviera Maya. Its an Excellence property and they felt it was perfect for them and as it turned out it was the right choice all things considered. A big part was easy air connections. They had two NS flights from ORD to CAN which left at very reasonable times. We had been to Fiji before with our son and that was also in the running but got removed due to the very long flights.
BTW he sent me videos of this resort and it was amazing. Also it had a much better beach for long walks than St. Maarten which was a big factor too.
Cheers, Larry. .

You're welcome. Thanks for the reply. The resort was amazing and they had a two story unit with a level that had faced the ocean and had a small pool/hot tub. He sent me a video of it. Man I wanted to go! .
