Hello,
Last year my family enjoyed a long villa rental in Bonaire. Looking for something similarly quiet and unspoiled, but would like a prettier beach.
After some research, it looks like Bequia could be a nice place for my family to rent a villa for four week in Jan/Feb '11. Looking for a pool villa with four bedrooms, with budget about $2500/week. We want an unspoiled place, no huge hotel areas, relatively affordable. Would Bequia fit the bill? How is the food there at the supermarkets?
How difficult would it be to get there from NYC? All I have seen so far is Air Jamaica to Grenada (maybe I can get a flight/ ferry from there to Bequia.)
Any advice on this island would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also planning a trip to Bequia in 2011, but for two weeks. If you haven't already done so, I suggest you start with Grenadinevillas.com. They have an excellent website and a large list of villas. Finding a place with a pool and four bedrooms for $2500 may be a bit difficult. I have had to cut the pool from my list to be able to walk to the beach. Although I haven't been to Bequia, my search criteria has been the same as yours, and Bequia seems to fit the bill. You might also check Trip Advisor - there are lots of Bequia fans there. In terms of flights, flying in and out of Barbados might be best. Good luck!
The best and easiest way to get to Bequia from NYC is a flight to Barbados--both American Airlines and Jet Blue fly there non-stop everyday from JFK--and then a short inter-island flight to Bequia on SVG Air.
