2 lodging locations in St Lucia

We are planning a week long trip to St Lucia. My idea was to stay half the time on Choc Bay and half the time in Soufriere; in this way to fully experience both ends of the island. I'm tempted to rent a villa in Soufriere with a view of Pitons, or at maybe La Dauphine Estate. Any suggestions or opinions about this lodging plan?

Soufriere in my opinion is not a tourist friendly town, so I'd suggest a hotel or resort rather than self catering villa. There are some great resorts in the piton area.

I agree with dhvinyl. I would recommend staying two days in Soufriere at the Ladera Resort. You will overlook the stunning Pitons, get great food in a relaxing and romantic atmosphere. You will probably land at Hewanorra International Airport in the south and can drive directly to that resort. For the other five days I would definitely stay in the north. There are apartments for rent right on Reduit Beach, which in my opinion is the best beach. You would also be walking distance from excellent restaurants, supermarkets, banks etc. There is a little local bar on the beach near the apartments (Marie's) where you can get fresh fish meals, rum punch etc. or walk up the beach to Spinnakers which is good. You may contact Lorna at [email protected] and she can give you lots of details. Tell her you were referred by Roger in Canada. Also if you need an excellent driver, ask Lorna and she can arrange for Alvin to meet you. He is excellent.

I should add that Choc Bay is a little out of the real centre of things although there are apartments there and a couple hotels. You are better off further north as I suggested.
