Whistler or Kelowna

Have a few days to do day trips from Aug 27 to 31 from Blaine, Wash. Should we do Whistler and Kelowna or just Whistler. Thanks.

I guess it depends on how you want to spend your holiday - driving and sightseeing or staying put and relaxing (and sightseeing). For me, the best part of going to Kelowna would be the trip there and back as I don't find Kelowna itself all that fascinating. You could take the Coquihalla highway one way and return through Manning Park to make it more interesting. People seem to like Whistler though, even in summer. With that choice, you could spend some time in Vancouver on your way through.

Marge:

Kelowna is too far for a day trip. It's about a five-hour drive from Blaine. Whistler is about three hours each way. Great scenery in either case, but you probably want to stay overnight wherever you decide to go. If you go to Kelowna, go one way on the Coquihalla Highway through Merritt and return via Highway 3 through Princeton. There's only one road to Whistler...Highway 99.

I'd agree that you should spend some time in Vancouver...or take the ferry from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay and visit Victoria. It's also about three hours from Blaine...although the ferries only go every hour and there might be a wait. Victoria and southern Vancouver Island are lovely!

Cheers!

Kelowna and Whistler are so different that I find it hard to answer the question. One is in the mountains, the other is a town on a lake. Both have attractive views coming and going.
As a destination, I am not sure Kelowna measures up. But the drive there and back sure leads through some pretty country. Hard choice because of a lack of common ground on which to render an opinion, which of course is a value judgement.

Thanks for all the help. Scott: Sorry to hear that it is a 5 hr drive. We'll have to see how much time we have left after whale watching & a day in Vancover.
