We'll be driving this route next week, hoping to end up in Petoskey, MI. Looks like rather a long haul so we'll need to break it up. North Bay looks like about the halfway point -- any recommendations for hotels or restaurants or alternate stops? Appreciate any assistance.

For what it's worth, you might consider an even longer drive teh first day, to Sudbury, so you have a shorter drive teh next day, arriving at your destination earlier.
It might be more useful to spend part of the evening driving, instead of watching TV in your motel in North Bay.
Yes -- I was afraid that might be the answer!
Thanks.
Since it takes two days anyhow, consider driving south of Lake Huron and stay in London. Cross the border at Sarnia. You would have a lower chance of being stranded by snow.
Is there really a chance of snow next week?
We have already had a lot of snow in several US states this past week.
Something else to worry about . . .
<<Something else to worry about . . .>>
No, nothing to worry about. The fact that there may have been snow in some US states last week (Colorado? Utah?) means absolutely nothing to the weather between Montreal and Sault Ste Marie next week. Check it out:

I have family in North Bay-it's been unseasonably warm there all fall.
