We are doing a trip to the Canadian Rockies next week, and am having second thoughts about the hotel I booked in Waterton. I have us booked at the Prince of Wales hotel, which I am hearing is a dump inside. Does anyone have any other suggestions for the area? Has anyone stayed at the Shintangle Springs B&B outside the park?

We stayed at the Aspen Village Inn. Very nice.Paul
We loved the Prince of Wales Hotel. It is a typical national park hotel--nothing fancy, but it is in the most spectacular setting of any hotel I have ever seen. Just make sure you are not in the haunted room!
Definitely stay in the Waterton townsite rather than outside the park. I'd have recommended the Kilmoray Lodge up until about a year ago when it burned down! The Prince of Wales is unique and as stated above, has a spectacular setting.
Does anyone know how to do an actual booking at the Prince of Wales Hotel without going through Park Svc and paying an additional 10% booking fee?
