Hi Kim,

I can only tell you what the weather in Toronto will be like. Mid-June it will be warm, starting to get humid, september will be pretty much the same. July and August are the months that get really hot and humid.

Hi Kim, Alberta will be much the same as the first post, except no humidity. It can be quite warm in June and also in September. July and August are the hot months for sure.

Enjoy!

HI,

You will find the actual temperature less important than the humidity...

the biggest change is that in Alberta the nights cool off and in TO they do not...

Both June and September can be chilly in Alberta, so pack a sweater!
Mid June will be pretty hot during the day, especially if the sun is in full force (like 80-85 degrees or so). If its humid (which makes it feel like 100) head towards Queen's Quay to the ferry (at Bay Street) and spend some time on Toronto island. The water cools it off a bit in that part of town. On a hot day you can also head towards the Beaches (like a small bustling town - one street - Queen Street that has amazing, quirky shops - and you can sit on any patio and get some good cheap snacks/meals, just take a look at the menus posted in the windows). It gets pretty packed on the weekend, but is worth it for the atmosphere and not bad on week days. You can take the TTC there (Queen Street near Woodbine if you are looking at a map) or get a cab to take you - $25 maybe. And of course - there is also the beach there (bad swimming water, but nice boardwalk).
Evenings can stay quite warm, but a summer dress/light khakis (ugh - so GAP) and a little sweater is a sure safe bet.

Alberta is a very, very big place.

Edmonton is noticably cooler than Calgary, especially at tnight.

The mountains, near Banff and Lake Louise, are cooler than Calgary.

I've been in Banff on September 1, with snow on the ground, but never saw snow there in June.

In Toronto, weather has been semi-wierd. Assume 75 in F-style degrees during the day, and 55 at night, but it could be quite a bit warmer in the mid-evenings, allowing for comfortable out-door cafe style meals.

Bring a sweater.

BAK

Just to ammend some information given in the previous post. Having lived in both Edmonton and Calgary I can say that the temperatures between the two are quite similar. In fact, Edmonton tends to be more humid than Calgary which of course makes it seem warmer. Calgary, being closer to the mountains, cools off at night. Of course in the mountains it is always a bit cooler than on the praries. The cool thing about Alberta is that there are no hard and fast rules....the weather is truly unpredictable!!!!

Nobody seemend to mention Vancouver although I see it is on another posting. The fact is that in Vancouver June is very often the lousiest month of the summer. Spring begins early in Vancouver like around mid-February and so by June we're all set for a continuation of the hot spells we usually have in late April and May and then for some crazy reason the clouds and rain seems to hit us for one last smack of early spring. Not that there havn't been some warm beautiful Junes in the last 50 years but I'm betting they're outnumbered 3-1 by cool showry ones.
September on the other hand is just the opposite. Most Septembers are extensions of August with the only change being the shorter days and cooler mornings.

No one seems to have mentioned that Calgary can get snow at any time of the year! I remember snow in June the year I graduated from high school in Calgary. I also remember snow in August. I didn't think it ever snowed in July, but I was recently told that it has!

I know that the gardening zones in Alberta are quite different from that of Toronto (where I now live). Good gardening weather is much shorter is Alberta, especially Edmonton. Alberta is also kind of 'odd' in that people often mention wind - as in, "I'd never live in northwest Calgary - too windy"! Or "I don't like Lethbridge - too windy". (I actually heard that when I was in Calgary a few weeks ago!)
