Victoria, Canada

We will have 6 hours in Victoria on our Alaskan cruise. We will be there from 6pm until midnight. Can anyone suggest what we should see and maybe a good place to eat?

If you are travelling in June or July you will have lots of daylight so I would suggest Butchart Gardens followed by a late dinner.

I just looked at their hours and they close at 6pm. We will be there 6pm until MN. Any other suggestions?

That is a nasty port call -- not landing until 6PM?

What day of the week? The Royal BC Museum is open until 10PM on Fri/Sat.

If you dock at 6 and leave at 12, it's not 6 hrs. You must be back at least 30 minutes earlier. Add time to board the shuttle bus from the pier to the city, and a ride back.

The Inner Harbour provides good people watching, as well as location of Parliment, The Empress Hotel and The Royal BC Museum. Even if museum closed, there are tall glass enclosures with totem poles - and slightly further inland, there is Thunderbird park - with more totems.
If you like to walk, then there is the Dallas Road coastal walkway from the pier, towards Beacon Hill Park. At the park, you turn inland and approach the inner harbour from 'town'. Then you can take the shuttle back. Or, walk through James Bay towards inner harbour. James Bay was settled earliest and has a nice collection of Victorian's and older homes. Thirdly, Dallas Road to Government Street, which ends right at the curve of Inner Harbour, Parliament buildings, and the Royal BC Museum.
