2 single women traveling from NYC to Victoria (3 days) and Vancouver (4 days) in late May-early June.
We have Victoria covered, but would love some suggestions (apart from a day in Whistler, Stanley Park, Aquarium and shopping) for fun things to do in Vancouver.
Are there piano bars/open mic nights in Vancouver? I have researched online and get mixed messages - there seem to be some, but nothing specific. If you know of places (I"m a performer) that have live music with the option of having people come up and sing - please post! Same goes for favorite restaurants, bars, etc. that are not touristy - that locals love to go to. Thanks to posts last summer, our trip to Montreal was awesome! We went to several places/areas that most people who travel there never get to see (or know about). Any hidden treasures are welcome. Thank you!

Hi LaurieNYC,
Exploring Stanley Park, West End, Downtown, Granville Island, Chinatown, Gastown, English Bay Beach and the downtown peninsula should keep even the most easily bored busy for 2 days at least. If you're going to Whistler, that would take up a full day I would imagine too.
So,you'll really have one day left.
Taking a ferry to one of the nearby coastal islands, such as Bowen Island, for a hike is fun. Riding the cable car up to the top of Grouse Mountain gives you lovely views of Vancouver and the Georgia Strait on a nice day. Going out to see one of the suspension bridges might be something you would enjoy if you don't have vertigo. The Anthropology Museum over by UBC and Wreck Beach is interesting and will take you to a different part of town. You could potentially combine this with visiting Kitsilano and vicinity.
You're not going to be able to do all of these options, so have fun choosing.
Enjoy Vancouver and Victoria, definite jewels of the West Coast in my eyes! Daniel
Thx very much!
