Vancouver to Tofino on Orca Air -- Connection Time Question

Jump to last reply

On a Tuesday in July we’ll arrive at Vancouver YVR at 11:50am on a nonstop United flight from Houston. From there we plan to fly to Tofino and spend a few days touring Vancouver Island. Orca Airways has flights from YVR to Tofino YAZ departing at 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Orca departs from the South Terminal which appears to be a 20 minute shuttle ride from the International terminal. The shuttle claims to come every 20 minutes. Orca wants you to arrive 30 minutes before your flight time.

I haven’t been to the Vancouver airport before so I’m not sure how much time it typically takes to clear customs and collect baggage. We do have Global Entry and I just checked and Vancouver has Global Entry kiosks. Do you think it’s possible to land at 11:50am and get to the South Terminal by 1:30pm? I’d really like to book the 2:00pm Orca flight but I’m not sure if we’ll have enough time to make it there. Is the 4:00pm Orca flight a safer choice?
