Vancouver Island: Scenic Drives

Are all or some of these drives scenic--with many views of water or mountains?

*Highway 19A between Parksville and Courtenay
*Highway 14 between Victoria and Port Renfrew
*Highway 4 between Qualicum Beach and Ucluelet

Highway 4 across the island is very scenic. Lots of mountain views as well as water. Stop at the Coombs Country Market (where the goats live on the roof) and pick up the makings of a picnic lunch.

Thanks, sludick. Does that mean 19A and 4 aren't scenic or that you haven't driven on them?

I also want tp know the best war to get from Vancouver Island to the Sunshine Coast?

HTtY

PS Thanks, too, for the picnic suggestion.

We have driven 19A once down from Campbell River to Nanaimo. But it was during a driving rain and so we couldn't tell if it was scenic.

We have also driven 14 between Victoria and Port Renfrew - the weather was nice, and we had heard it is scenic, but it was a bit disappointing to us.

Parksville Courtenay , just did it an hour ago. It is very scenic. It was the original highway but now we have have inland highway, 19. You can always go one way on 19 and the other on 19A. It is a two lane most of the way and will take you through smaller towns along the ocean.
I think all three are good scenic drives.

I used to cycle up the old island highway from just outside Millbay to Nanaimo and its beautiful.

The trip from Port Alberni to Tofino is kinda fun too.

The drive around Lake Cowichan is interesting.

Victoria -> Sidney is a great cycling route but can also be done in a car. Great scenery.

You are most welcome. Be sure to get some pictures of those goats on the roof, they are such a hoot.
