In August 2010, we will be in Vancouver for a night and then off to the Queen Charlotte Islands for a week. After our stay in the Queen Charlottes, it's back to Vancouver for another night before we embark on a cruise to Alaska.
The planes to the Queen Charlotte Islands are very small and baggage weight is limited. While we are on the Charlottes, we will be hiking, fishing, etc. No need for any dressy items.
But the cruise (Celebrity) requires nice clothing - even a suit for my husband. We are trying to figure out if there is a way to leave a couple bags in Vancouver while we are on the islands ... pick them up when we get back for the cruise. One plan is to drop some of the dressier items at a drycleaner and then pick them up when we return ... but maybe there is a hotel that would allow us to store the bags until we return.
Any ideas?

If you stay in the same hotel for the night before and after your trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands they would probably let you store your bags for the week. Check with them when you make your reservation.
Another idea is I am pretty sure there are storage lockers at the train/bus station in Vancouver...or there used to be.
The Big Question is What are you doing with your fish?
Are you staying @ a lodge that has freezer storage here in Vancouver-some who operate out of the South Terminal have freezers.
Some hotels do have freezer storage and if you're staying before/after as mentioned should store your gear/carcasses as part of their service I'm pretty sure the Delta in Richmond does this.
There's also luggage storage @ YVR

Actually, we are staying with friends who live on the Charlottes ... their son has a small eco-tour company, and we will do some day fishing trips with them, but hopefully catching just enough for us to eat while we are visiting. If there's more, I am sure our friends will keep it for their own use.
Thanks for the link to the airport storage. That's definitely a possibility. First I'm going to try for a hotel that will allow us to leave a couple bags over the week.
I am hoping that with all the construction for the Winter Olympics, hotel rooms will be overly abundant by summer, and maybe there will be some good deals in Vancouver.
