Undecided about Auberge Saint-Antoine or Hotel Dominion 1912? Can any help?

We are going to Quebec city for our anniversary. I have not been back since late 1980's. I have researched both Auberge Saint-Antoine and Dominion 1912. They appear to be great, but I would appreciate some feedback from people who have experienced either hotel. Thanks

Hi Mary Lee, it doesnt really matter which hotel you choose. They both are lovely. Besides, you will be spending most of your time exploring the city. There is so much to do and see. Its also a nice city just to sit at a cafe' and do nothing but people watching!
Just another note on your hotel choices, although I never stayed at either one, I have past by both several times. They are fine places. Quebec City is a very hospitable city and people who work in the restaurants, stores, and hotels give you that impression immediately. Enjoy your stay!

Hi Clare, thanks for your feedback. I have chosen the Hotel Dominion 1912. I will let you know about my experience when I return.

We spent a few days in Quebec a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the Auberge Saint Pierre (only place in the neighborhood with a room the dates we needed) which is within a block or two of both hotels. We thought Saint Antoine's location on a rather busy street to be something of a drawback although the hotel looked very charming - the Dominion 1912 location seemed very good. We decided, that if we ever go back, we will try for the Priory (also right in that neighborhood) which is located in the most quiet corner of the old port area. One thing I'd mention about Saint Antoine is that there is an enormous construction job going on right next door to it - look to be rebuilding most of the block - giant crane and loud compressor running during working hours....I would have been disappointed to find this going on outside my window...you might want to check the progress of this project when you book.
Called the Saint Antoine for reservations today. Hotel is expanding and under renovation. The noise is from the back end of the hotel.
