Trip Report trip report rockies

We flew in from Comox on the 11th Sept. into Calagry. We picked up the rental car from Hertz and drove to the Holiday Inn Express. It was still very cold due to the snow storm a few days back. Next morning we started our drive to Banff. It was overcast and did not not get to see much. We bought our park pass at the gate and proceeded to our lodging best western siding 29. Nice location. Went around the town and dropped by at the visitor information centre. We decided to chill out as we had the next couple of days planned.

On the 13th morning we left for the ice field parkway. As we entered Bow lake it cleared up. For me this was one of the most scenic drives.Peyto lake is a must see. The snow coach tour was nice. On the way back we stopped at the points we did not cover on the way up. We could not do the Athabasca Falls as the windscreen got damaged by a stone.

On the 14th we went to Lake Ohara. This place is absolutely stunning-worth the effort to book the shuttle. We did the lake shore hike to then hiked to Lake Oesa. Then we proceeded to Emerald lake and Takakkaw falls. In the evening had dinner at El Toro followed by breakfast next morning. Great food

On the 15th we went to Lake Moraine and Lake Louise. We wanted to do the Larch Valley hike but could not get 4 people.

In the evening we drove to Calgary. The drive from banff for the 1st one hour was very scenic. At night we had dinner at Moxies Grill -highly recommended.

I can well imagine how crowded it must be in July &August and was very happy with the visit in September.
