Having visited the Banff/Lake Louise area in 2007, we opted to focus on Jasper National Park on our second trip to the Canadian Rockies (Aug/Sep 2009). I managed to keep up with my blog while we were in Jasper and am posting it in bits and pieces as I process photos to go along with the text.
For those interested - here's the link to the first post: http://2totravel.blogspot.com/2009/08/off-to-canada.html
At the end of each post you'll find a link to the next one in the series; the entire trip will be posted in the September archives.
Enjoy!

Wow! Excellent and interesting
I am a local and we sure did find the smoke thick at the end of August. The mountains were not visible from Hinton, where I live.
The smoke was a bit of a disappointment, but we made the best of the situation and still had a terrific time. We were especially lucky the day we went to Angel Glacier as it was right after a storm came through and cleared the air.
Hope the fire situation has improved in the time since our return home.
