We are planning a trip to Newfoundland Aug. 23 through Sept. 2. We will take the Ferry from North Sydney, NS to Port aux Basque and then travel through Gros Morne National Park up to St. Anthony then backtrack to Deer Lake and take Route 1 over through Gander and on to St. John's and then back to North Sydney by ferry from Argentia. We intend to leave our camper trailer in NS as we don't know anything about the road conditions including hills, grades, etc in NF. We plan to do B&Bs during our visit. Any suggestions on places we must see, stay, eat at, or whatever during our visit. Never having been to NF we would welcome any advice.

Glad to hear you are going to visit our province. A good site to get information on B&B's is www.hospitality.nf.ca. Gros Morne and Rocky Harbour are must visits, Rocky Harbour has a B&B, I think they also have sea kayaking and other outdoor activities. Gander is small, but I would take a trip into Trinity (the community) the scenery is breathtaking, lots of history. Onto St. John's, Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi, and a taste of old downtown, good restaurants, and good B&B's too. Enjoy the trip.
Check out whale watching along the coast from Twillingate to St. John's...
popular spots are Trinity, Witless Bay too. Also you will find an exceelent list of B & B's and facilities to make reservations through BBCanada.com
Hi Ernie:
My husband & I travelled by ferry to Nfld from North Sydney some years back. We travelled as far as Corner Brook which is a nice town. Gros Morne is absolutely beautiful and you should definitely visit there. Never been to St. John's but I hear it is a great town!
