While planning our tour the route given by the guide we use is we sleep in Woodstock and the next day go on to Campbellton via Grand Falls and then route 17.What I would like to know if it would'nt be better to take a look at GrandFalls and then take the side road via New Denmark and on to Mt.Carleton(for a hike) and the on via rte 17 to Campbellton. Perhaps it is because your Canadian friends are having a hard time comprehending the question. We don't know what you mean by "better". Yes, there are good hiking trails in Mount Carleton Provincial Park. So, if you want to hike them, you have to go there. If you don't want to hike them, take the more direct route and save an hour's driving.
What I meant was;is the road 17 from G.falls to Campbellton as scenic as the one going to MT Carleton and is it worth taking this detour.Paul
Thanks for the clarification. I'm afraid I can't be any help. I personally find the scenery in non-coastal New Brunswick to be uninteresting. Trees, trees and more trees, and around the next corner, even more trees.
Perhaps someone who finds forest scenery more interesting than I do can tell you whether the trees on the "scenic" route are more exciting than those on the direct route.
