Tofino -Are 5-6 days long enough or too long for family with preschoolers?

We are 3 generations heading to Tofino in June next year to celebrate a 70th. birthday.
Next year the 3 children will be will be 4 and 5 years of age.
How many days would you recommend that we stay in Tofino. We are thinking of 5-6 days.
Is that too long?
We would also like to stay at a nice resort before flying home. Flights will be out of Nanaimo
Has anybody stayed in Parksville at a 4-5 star resort?

thanks

5-6 days is perfect for a nice relaxed stay. personally, i'd look to rent a condo(s) or cabin(s) on a beach so that you have a kitchen, bbq etc. relax at home in the evenings watching the surfers (we had a nice condo on chesterman beach). there are a few nice resort hotel in parksville. have a look at tigh-na-mara or sunrise ridge.

thanks for your reply

We are concerned Tofino will not be the right place for 4 and 5 year olds given the weather, etc.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

We stayed here with our three kids when they were 6, 4 and 1 years old:

Everyone has their own view of course but we would have found 5-6 days a bit too long. We stayed three days and then drove to Whistler. It's a beautiful area but the weather was iffy (August). The baby probably complicated things a bit for us.

only you know your kids. some kids will whine and complain if it's not perfect weather. other kids, throw on a rain coat and they will still enjoy walking the beach and enjoying watching the waves. if you are concerned, cut it down to staying 4 nights but i wouldn't go lower then that. and, considering you are celebrating a 70th birthday, maybe ask them what they want and tell the kids to suck it up and be grateful for the vacation.

I took my kids every summer from the time they were one. They were never bored and keep going back now as adults.

One thing that I would suggest to do is go to Ucluelet for the day (1/2 hour drive from Tofino) and go to the small but wonderful Aquarium there. It is very kid oriented and they can pick things up and all the displays are at their level. The staff are all marine biologists and have lots of information. The thing I like the best is that the fish/animals are all put back into the ocean and new ones brought in every six months or so.

Parksville area hotels. The Beach Club is nice and have a full kitchen , indoor pool and is right on the beach and in town. You have just come from Tofino so not sure if you want to stay further out of the small town at Rathtrevor beach, which is where Tigh na Mara is, but they are nice resorts too. Close to the Beach Club is a little mini golf that the kids love.

June can be rainy here, it is hit and miss, so just pack rain gear and you will be fine.

Another fun thing for the kids would be to stop on the way to or from Tofino at Coombs Market. The goats go on the roof usually mid May and it seems to be a place that young and old love as it is super busy every single day.
