Times Square Suites Vancouver BC - Review

This is really Part 1 of my Great Canadian Rail Trip + Vancouver +/ Gibsons + Jasper Trip report
I decided to review where we stayed in Vancouver as a separate report. I will also review the Train Trip and Vancouver / Gibsons and Jasper as separate reports.

Frankly we absolutely loved our stay at Times Square Suites in Vancouver.
It was what we expected and much more..

We had a one bedroom suite that included a full kitchen (We really did not need the stove but we got a lot of use out of the microwave, fridge, toaster and coffee maker because we did all our breakfasts at the hotel).

We also used the washer and dryer - VERY handy for two travellers just off a cross Canada train. They supply a complimentary small box of detergent (enough for one load) and 2 fabric softener sheets. You can purchase additional detergent and fabric softener at the Front Desk (who were most helpful about everything).

I LOVED the bed - defintely the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept on.
They also supply 2 nice thick bath robes.

There was also a nice gas fireplace.

Also the staff were just great - very friendly and exceptionally helpful. If you arrive early, they are only too happy to keep your bags secure while you do some sightseeing, The same thing when you leave. (They kept our bags after we checked out until our friends arrived to pick us up.)

The location was perfect for us - close to Stanley Park and transit and near lots of restaurants.

Only 3 VERY small negatives. It's nice that coffee is supplied but it is really awful Nabob stuff. We tried it once and it was pretty bad - so we just bought our own. Also it would be nice if shampoo was supplied(bath soap is supplied) and the water pressure in the shower was kind of weak. However none of these really impacted our stay in any significant negative way.

Who will like this hotel:
Travellers who like privacy (staff are quite unintrusive - YOU ask to get your room cleaned) and efficiency (every staff person we encountered was doing their job very well) and cleanliness (the suite was spotless when we arrived).
Travellers who like to do some of their own food preparation. Nearly forgot to mention Safeway grocery store is directly diagonally opposite and very well- stocked.
Travellers who like having clothes washing facilities
Travellers who really appreciate a comfortable bed.
Travellers who don't need on-site things like a restaurant or bar (plenty of good restaurants nearby).
Travellers who prefer small intimate hotels to large glitzy chains.

We will recommend this hotel to friends and really want to stay there again when we next go to Vancouver. We have also sent a copy of this review to Times Square Suites to let them know how pleased we were (a first for me - usually I just review the hotel on-line but I wanted them to know that they were doing everything just right for travellers like us).

Your review perked my interest, as we like to head into Vancouver for mini-stays at times, and are always seeking places that we can afford, and located where we would like to be.

I had never heard of 'Times Square Suites', and you did not provide any indication as to where it's located (had to find that via a 'search') -- seems it's in the city's west end, handy to Stanley Park, et al.

Like what you've said about the facility and the rooms -- must check it out, we're due for a stay in Vancouver soon, and like the option of having a room with kitchenette, and etc.

Thanks for the report - looking forward to hearing more about the rest of your trip.

Times Square Suites is located right at the corner of Denman and Robson, VERY close to Stanley Park (we walked there a couple of times and s short walk to English Bay.

In that area I highly recommend a Persian restaurant on Pendrell (north side, just East of Denman) called Darya. It's not fancy but the food is good, in large portions, authentically Iranian, reasonably priced and the service is very friendly. We ate there twice and were very pleased. It has some unusual and tasty selections suitable for Vegetarians as well as good stuff for Carnivores. (My husband like to eat veggy at lunch.) Any of the kebabs are suitable for large appetites.

Just wanted to thank you for your post. We just booked TSS and it put my mind at ease reading your favourable comments. Love reviews that are detailed and specific and contain pros and cons. Never eaten Persian before but will be sure to check your restaurant recommend out. Thanks again.
