The Sylvia Hotel in Vancouver, any new thoughts for 2012?

Jump to last reply

I see that most of the posts about this hotel are quite old and I understand they have done some renovations for the Olympics back in 2010. I am looking at a corner bay view 1 bedroom apartment for $215 a night. It's a pretty steep rate compared to renting a private apartment so I'd love to hear your thoughts. I love the area, we are big walkers and would likely really enjoy being close to the sea wall and stanley park. We will have an 18 month old with us and we're running into a problem renting apartments in the West end, they are all in very tall buidlings with balconies and no screen doors, just a bit of a safety issue. The Sylvia looks like a great match for us, just wish the price wasn't so high, but if it's amazing I don't mind paying it. We like old historic buildings, but I don't like it if old and historic means only 3 minutes of hot water, decaying interiors and things that don't function as they should. I like the idea of staying in a place with such character, just don't want to miserable since we are staying for a week!

Thank you!
