Could it be that you mean Rte 2, not 12?

If you need a supermarket right after landing in Calgary, there is a Walmart in the Deerfoot Mall on the Western perimeters of the airport. exit 263 from Deerfoot Trail (Rte 2)
Closer to the border there are two supermarkets as you go thru Fort MacLeod. Alberta 2 will take you thru "downtown", the supermarkets are one block north on 24th street. You can't really get lost in this small town.
Actually, you will probably see dozens more as Rte 2 is only a freeway until you get a bit South of Calgary. From there on, it turns into a regular highway so you can easily stop left or right once you see a supermarket.

If you plan to buy foodstuff, you probably know the respective restrictions for taking it across borders.

I wrote Rte 12 both times and meant Rte 2.

Yes, I know the restrictions.

Basically, citrus is not permitted and a very few other things.

How did I write 12 both in the heading and the text. Maybe I was thinking Utah.

I don't think the Walmart in that mall is a supercenter with groceries.

Even closer to the border, there is an IGA right on the highway going through Cardston.

It turns out that the Walmast in Deerfoot Mall became a Supercenter 3 years ago.

I's rather buy the supplies soone rather than later so I know I have them.

Thanks.

Yep, they have groceries. At least when I was there last week
By the way, the Walmart is not directly part of the main mall structure, but a seperate building behind the mall. So you cannot see it at once from the freeway. Just go around the mall and there it is.
