We are traveling with our 3 children (8,6,4) in either December or March to Whistler. Would like to stay at a luxury hotel or condo in a very convenient location. Any suggestions in terms of hotel and timing? Thanks!

Trip Ideas
Timing will be tricky this year due to the Olympics. I'd wait until mid-March or later. Most of the accomodation will already be taken by media and Olympic support people - it's starting to happen even now and by December it will be very busy.
The Fairmont and Four Seasons are the most luxurious hotels there. Anything in the Upper Village is going to be in a convenient location.
Whistler outside the Olympic period is not only expected to be NOT busy, but they're quite worried visitation will be way down. That's what usually happens during Olympic years--people are afraid everything is booked up all year and everyone stays away.
The ParaOlympics go into March, so time your visit after that, unless you're interested in attending the events. December will have good deals before Christmas, and conditions are often good then, but you never know about coverage. You can usually at least ski the upper mountain even if coverage isn't great on the lower mountain.
Anything in Whistler Village, the upper Village or Village North is very convenient to everything. Creeksideis a smaller base area that might suit you perfectly well, but you won't be able to walk to Whister Village. There are lots of homes/condos that require a drive or shuttle ride to from the village, so if convenience is a priority, be sure to look at the map when booking.
I would go in December as the hotels are giving great deals due to the 'pre-Olympic' drought of visitors. After the Olympics, the pent up demand will fill the hotels. Also, March is spring break, so it will be busy and expensive.
Thanks!!!
BTW the Paras are much smaller that the other Games, using 2 venues only, and the media presence will be very small. So I don't think you need to wait until those are over if you do decide to go in March. Most of the media will be leaving by March 3.
