Stay in Baddeck or Ingonish?

We're going to Nova Scotia the end of September and are planning on driving the Cabot Trail and hiking the Skyline Trail and another trail at Cape Breton. We thought it would be best to hike in the morning, then drive some Cabot Trail afternoon...doing so for two days. With this is mind, should we stay in Baddeck or Ingonish? We've been looking at Duffus House and Broadwater in Baddeck and Seascape Coastal Retreat and Lantern Hill Hollow in Ingonish. We want to be able to have a decent meal for dinner with a drink or two and found that Baddeck is dry. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.

When they say Baddeck is a dry town, it doesn't mean that they don't sell liquor. It means there are no actual "taverns" or "lounges" allowed in the village. Liquor is served at restaurants so you won't have a problem getting a drink. Also there is a liquor store.

If you want to do early morning hikes, Skyline is closer to the village of Cheticamp. You may want to consider staying there the first night, hiking the Skyline and then continuing on to Ingonish and spending a night there. If you stay at Keltic, you are still in the National Park.
