Am planning a trip to St. John's Newfoundland in late May. I know that summer is prime time, but what are weather conditions like in late spring. Will it be too cold, wet, foggy, etc? I will be in Toronto for business and plan to take advantage of the opportunity to see parts of Canada I have not been to. Are there any discount Canadian airlines? How cheap can you get from Toronto to St. John's? Thanks in advance for any info.

I was in St John's 2 years ago about the middle of June and it was beautiful. So, I'm guessing the end of May will be quite nice. We had warm weather, probably around 65 to 70 degrees. And we only had rain on two days.
There are charter airlines in Canada and they are usually the cheapest. Just be aware that all sales are final on these flights and there are no changes allowed.
Go to these sites for fares.

Also check www.belairtravel.com
which is a very good Toronto based discount travel agency.
Good luck.
Hi;
Another air line to check is Canjet (www.canjet.com). No frills but quite cheap in comparison to other airlines.
I lived in Newfoundland for a short time. You can expect cool temperatures and rain in May, although you may be pleasantly surprised. Plan to wear a sweater in the evening and perhaps a windbreaker. You can be sure that there will be wind. My recommendation for a place to stay is The Battery Hotel - overlooking the harbour. The best place to see the bergs! The people are the warmest you'll ever meet.
Although I've lived in Toronto for 3 years, I hail form the wonderful Isle of Newfoundland, St. John's in fact. I would echo the suggestion to try CanJet for a cheap flight...in late May, you can probably fly return for around $350. As for the weather, May and June tend to be somewhat rainy but it varies from year to year. This year, the record snowfall\ (over 400 cm so far!!!) might still be around in May haha! Regardless of the weather, I'm sure you'll love it!!! You can email me if you have any other specific questions.
