Seattle to Port Angeles to Victoria

Is it feasible to think I can land in Seattle at about 12:30pm, rent a car, and drive to Port Angeles and catch a ferry to Victoria all before dark?

Is that too much to do in one day?

What time of year? The ferry schedule and what time it gets dark are both very dependent on that. In the summer it might be feasible; in the winter, probably not.

This would be in mid-June and we would make ferry reservations.

I don't want it to be a "race". If we land at 12:30 and get our rental car by 1:30....I'm guessing we could be in Port Angeles by 4pm (2.5 hr. drive) BUT what is along the way that we would want to see (between Port Angeles and Seattle)??
Is Olympia worth seeing? anything else?

I just checked the Coho website and I'm not finding the schedule for June so I'm not sure what time the last sailing is, but that will dictate whether you have time to stop or not. There's *tons* to see and do on the Olympic Peninsula--Hurricane Ridge, the rainforest, Lake Crescent, historic Port Townsend--the list is long and varied. Are you trying to decide whether to stay in PA for a night before going on to Victoria, is that the issue?

As far as Olympia vs. the Olympic Peninsula, I'd err towards spending time on the Peninsula, but I'm big into hiking and the outdoors and you may or may not be.

Went to Olympic Peninsula last summer. There is a lot to see. Don't miss: Hurrican Ridge, Lake Crescent, Ho River Rain Forest, Kalalok (sp?) Beach.

Hey, that sounds like our usual flight! Are you coming from the East Coast? Anyway, allow for some traffic delays also. We tried to catch the ferry to Victoria last year and maybe would have made it, if our flight hadn't been somewhat late, if the traffic had not be heavy, etc. And then we got to Victoria in the dark and completely exhausted. Maybe consider taking a leisurely drive, spending the night, then heading for Victoria early morning?

Unless you are really into the nuts and bolts of state government, ignore Olympia. The capitol building is attractive, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

sludick...no, we're coming from Los Angeles so it's a pretty short flight (2.5 hrs.).
I think we'll make the ferry reservation for around 6pm...that should give us plenty of time to stop and see a few sights along the way.
