Road Trip Help
Hello i hope i am posting on the right Forum. I am planning a trip for my family from Toronto. We are party of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids. I need help in figuring out what the best solution would be to travel from Toronto ( we would fly) and then rent a car and drive . We would like to visit NB, NL and PEI if possible. We will be travelling in July and will have 10 days. Thoughts?
We are active, like hiking and seeing new places, we have done other road trips like the Pacific highway in Ca ( from San diego to San Fran) , In Hawaii and other parts of US, Also in the Rockies. This is our first time venturing to the other side of Canada. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Such a lovely part of the country, I would plan to cover less territory and see more at the places you choose. Newfoundland is wonderful and worthy of 10 days on its own. Given the time and cost involved in getting back and forth from the island I would not recommend trying to see it on the same trip as the other maritime provinces. NS, PEI and some of NB are doable in the time you have allowed, but you could cut out PEI and still have a very full vacation.
Given your interests, have you consider renting an RV? The national parks are quite wonderful and offer beaches, canoeing, kayaking, and hiking.

Thankks for the tip. We have actually thought about the RV but don't know where to begin to look for renting one. Any ideas of good companies we can rent from. I have thought further and we would do a circle trip.

We have our own little trailer so I can’t recommend an RV rental company, but I think a Google search will bring up lots of reputable ones.. See if any have a location close to where you live so you can drop by and view the various models. Probably they have they same ones in Ontario as in the maritimes.
If you decide to go the RV route come back here and ask questions. We travelled and camped all across Canada in each direction when our 3 kids were young and I can provide lots of pointers.

Don't forget to pick up the National Geographic Travel Map of Newfoundland... a great help when designing itineraries --> http://tinyurl.com/nltourism
