Road Trip From Halifax

My husband and I are just beginning to plan our trip to Canada this summer (looking at August). We are looking at flying into Halifax and starting our road trip from there. Is it possible to see PEI, New Brunswick and New Foundland in the same road trip (under 2 weeks)? I'm trying to find an itinerary that covers that ground but I can't. Any suggestions on a route or even a site to look at with itinerary ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you.

That's too much for 2 weeks. Pick 2. Nova Scotia and PEI. Fly to Halifax (YHZ), rent your car & go from there.

Google Nova Scotia travel guides and PEI travel guides to obtain tourism travel guides. Also, search here @ Fodors & you will find lots of good info on suggested itineraries.

As Oceanbreeze1 says, two weeks is tight when you include Newfoundland. Not only does the ferry take a while each way, but you land at one end of the province and the most interesting stuff is at the other end.

Just as a starting point for our plans.

Day 1/ arrive Halifax, stay overnight

Day 2/ drive north-east on NS coast to Cape
Breton

Day 3/ Cape Breton.

Day 4/ Leave Cape Breton to Pictou / New Glascow area

Day 5/ Ferry to PEI

Day 6/ PEI

Day 7/ Bridge to New Brunswick, up coast to Kouchibouguac National Park

Day 8/ Back down coast to Shediac, Parlee Beach area, into Moncton for night.

Day 9/ Hopewell Rocks, Fundy Park, back to Moncton that night

Day 10/ Moncton back to NS, over to Wolfville, on Bay of Fundy.

Day 11/ Fundy coast to Yarmouth.

Day 12/ Yarmouth to Lunenburg / Mahone Bay

Day 13/ Along shore to Peggy's Cove, Chester

Day 14/ into Halifax

Day 15/ Halifax

Day 16/ Halifax airport, fly home

This would be a great trip, as long as yu like to drive.

Each days route above allows lots of time for sightseeing.

Agree with others that 4 provinces would be too much, I'd skip Newfoundland on this trip. Some of my favourite highlights in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia:
- New Brunswick Fundy Shore: St. Andrews is a very nice tourist town; Alma is adjacent to the excellent scenery of Fundy National Park and the town and park showcase the dramatic fundy tides; Hopewell Rocks not too far away also showcase this dramatic phenomenon (seeing both low and high tide is best, otherwise plan visit for low tide).
- Nova Scotia - is nice everywhere but for first time visitors I recommend splitting time between Cape Breton (Cabot Trail is one of North America's most scenic drives) and the Lighthouse Route with its charming towns, quaint villages and many seascapes. Halifax is a great City, vibrant Harbour district, and can be included in a Lighthouse Route itinerary.
- PEI is most famous for Anne of Green Gables sites and the National Park with its extensive beaches.

My husband and I are also planning to go just to Nova Scotia in July. We are flying into Halifax and renting a car. We have been told that car rentals at the airport are much more expensive than in Halifax. You might want to consider taking a shuttle from the airport and renting a car in town.
