Later this month, I will be flying to Vancouver with a friend and staying for 3 nights, then on to Victoria for 3 nights, Tofino for 2 nights, then back to Vancouver for one night before flying out the next morning.
At first I was going to rent a car right away and keep it the whole time. After seeing the parking fee for the hotel, and then for the ferry, I was thinking of waiting until arriving into Victoria to rent the car. I would need to drop it off in Nanaimo since I would be coming back to Vancouver from Tofino.
Anyone have any comments on this? It looks like the airport to the hotel in downtown Vancouver would be fairly easy (we will have a suitcases). How about downtown to the ferry terminals. I guess a taxi would always work if no convenient public transportation considering lugging suitcases.
Thanks!

Looks like renting in Vancouver is much cheaper even considering the $100 round-trip ferry cost for a car. Plus we won't have to worry about lugging suitcases around.
"How about downtown to the ferry terminals"
http://www.translink.ca/ #257 from downtown Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay the bus stops a stone's throw from the ferry ticket booth.
If you can find an agency that owns a franchise in both Nanaimo & Victoria you may save some money on renting-I have heard that the same family owns the Budget franchises.
Take Pacific Coach back.
