Questions on Clearing customs

Hello,

I've only been to Canada 2x and each time was driving from the states. I'm looking to go to Montreal in a few weeks and would be flying. My first question is would a 90 minute connection be enough time to clear customs at Toronto Airport on our way to Montreal (I assume Canada would be just like the United States as in you clear customs in your first airport in that county)?

On the way back we would connect in Toronto again, but I would then clear customs in Pittsburgh which is my final destination, correct?

Thanks!

I'm sorry I can't answer all of your questions but I can tell you that on your way back, you would clear customs in Montreal or Toronto , not Pittsburg. . I'm sure someone will be able to help you with your other questions . Have a good time .

You preclear customs in TO or Montreal prior to flying into the states.

2 hours is usually what I try to give myself. Once you clear customs you will have to go back through security in order to board a domestic flight.

90 minutes is enough time to clear, but you should walk fast.

It's immigration...upon arrival in Toronto you will go through Canadian immigration procedures ...I'm not sure if you can check your luggage through or will have to pick it up in Toronto and re deposit it with the airline. Somebody who has done that can check.

On the return flight, Montreal to Toronto is a Canadian domestic flight. In Toronto there are US border controls...they will direct you to a special place to pick p your luggage and you will under go US immigration and customs inspection in the Toronto airport before going to the departure gate. Because of this, arrival in Pittsburgh will be no different than any other US domestic flight.
