PEI/NS-Too many miles/not enough time?

Jump to last reply

I've been reading many of the messages about traveling to Nova Scotia and PEI. These may be repeats, but I need some input. We have been to Halifax and Baddeck and driven the Cabot Trail. This time we are hoping to see mostly new areas. We have 10 days, but can beg for more if I must!
We are driving from Maryland and can't decide if it's smarter to:
1) MD to Bar Harbor-1 night, CAT to Yarmouth, aim for the South Shore/Mahone Bay 2 nights, maybe 1 night in Halifax, off to Baddeck and Sydney and Louisbourg-another 2-3 nights. Then to Pictou to ferry to PEI-2 nights (not sure where) and then over the bridge back to Maryland-which I believe will take 2 days of driving.
2) Do it in reverse.
3) Stick to Nova Scotia only.
Can one stay in Baddeck and see Sydney and Louisbourg, or should we plan a night in each place?
Every time we go to Nova Scotia we talk about PEI, and everytime we don't do it. I love Nova Scotia, and am sure I'd like PEI, but there's this job at home...! Even with new math, I don't think this equals 10 nights.
Any input greatly appreciated.
Thanks
