We live in Michigan and recently retired from teaching. We would like to take a trip up the East Coast in Sept/Oct. just to view the scenery and see PEI. What can we expect as far as accommodations? Can we "wing it"? What will we need for the dogs besides Rabies vacination documentation? Any info would be most appreciated.

I pedalled around PEI in September of 89. I also took the ferry which leaves Souris PEI to Cape Mieux in
the Isles d'Madellain - nice place but remote and was a rough five hour ferry ride.
PEI is a gorgeous place. Malpaque Bay north of Summerside was a favourite.
The restaurants all served fresh bread.
As far as accommodations, the B&B's shutdown at the end of September so
it may make sense to stay in Charlottetown or Summerside
Other maritime destinations I can
recommend are in Nova Scotia
including Halifax, Lunenburg and Mahone Bay.
The people of the martimes are what makes the region special.
