Patricia Lake Bungalows

Hi! Has anyone stayed at Patricia Lake Bungalows near Jasper? We're looking at the lakeside log cabins there and just wondered if anyone had any experience of this place? Thanks!

We tried to stay there last summer, but couldn't get a reservation. We ended up staying at Crayston's, which I'll write about in a minute, but we did drive to Patricia Lake to see the bungalows and, to be honest, were glad that we had stayed in town. They looked okay, but there wasn't as much open space between the cabins as the website had led us to believe, and there's not that much to do at Patricia Lake. (I could say the same about Pyramid Lake Resort.) Many people recommend staying in cabins at Jasper but in town in Banff. We liked doing just the opposite. Banff was so busy with traffic and people that it was a relief to get away from all that at night. Jasper is quieter and our accommodations were within walking distance of everything. If you do want to stay in a cabin in Jasper, you might want to consider Becker's instead. It's also slightly out of town, but the location seems better to me. In Jasper, we stayed at Crayston's home accommodation and we can't speak highly enough about the place! For $105 CDN, we got a mini-apartment with queen bed, 2 twins placed end to end, a fold-out futon, a fully-equipped kitchen with range, microwave, toaster, dinette, etc., a private bath, and a sitting area with satellite TV. The apartment, which had private access, was immaculate and every imaginable amenity was provided. It is located on the main street, Connought Drive, only a couple of short clocks away from a grocery store and the shopping district. You can look them up at www.stayinjasper.com. To contact them directly, email Dianne & Richard Crayston at [email protected]

Hi laurafromtexas,we will be travelling through the Canadian Rockies next year and will be spending 2/3 days in Jasper, I'm looking at home accommodations but there are so many to choose from. We will be two couples travelling together and your recommendation of Crayston's sounds ideal for us. Can you tell me if all the beds were in one room or if there are two separate bedrooms. Thanks.

Sorry to say, but all the beds are in one area of what amounts to a very large studio apartment. You might try contacting the Craystons and asking them for recommendations.

My husband and I would like to highly recommend Patricia Lake Bungalows as we spent our honeymoon there. They have a great site on the internet with a vertual tour where you can see the property. The quaint cabins are right on the lake with a trail down to the waters edge. The view is breathtaking. There is so much to do: fishing on the lake, paddleboats, canoeing,BBQing, Jacuzzi, and the hiking is spectacular!Staying in town when you're in paradise doesn't make sense when you can have noise and stores at home!!The serene surroundings make you feel like you've really had a holiday. The staff are so friendly and recently when we were there for Thanksgiving they had 30 pumpkins for us all to carve( some people go there every year just for that)that was so much fun there were prizes and we all enjoyed some hot chocolate afterwards as we toured the site seeing everyones creations. It was a fun evening we will look forward to this year as well. When you are seeing the vertual tour the cabins are quaint but don't reflect their upscale interiors. The beds always give us a luxurious nights sleep ( the fresh mountain air helps too!)This place is 5 star in our eyes!Enjoy your stay!!
