Pan Pacific, Fairmount Pacific Rim or Fairmount Waterfront?
Planning first trip to Vancouver and environs in early Sept. for my husband and self, and 88 year old dad. Looking forward to city break and possible day trips from Vancouver. Any input on these hotels would be appreciated.

I have not stayed at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, but have stayed a couple of times at the other two. The Fairmont Waterfront is my personal choice. The Pan Pacific Hotel is a convention hotel where check-in is on the 2nd or 3rd floor. As you go up the escalators, one can see the displays of the convention being held at that time...or an empty space. The Pan Pacific and Fairmont Waterfront are across the street from one another and the Pan Pacific is above the cruise ship terminal. In any case ask for a room with a view of the harbour and mountains.

Gosh, I have to put on my thinking cap for that one. There is a great selection of restaurants on Denman Street to suit everyone's budget. One in particular is a French Bistro to which I cannot remember the name! Another restaurant I enjoyed called "C" is now closed. If I think of others, I will post.
